What is Bee Propolis?

Bee Propolis is made from resinous substances of plants, bee saliva and bee’s wax. Bees use it as a crack filler to close any gaps in their hives keeping the hive clean and hygienic whilst at the same time protecting it from intruders and bad weather. Humans use it for its exceptional health-boosting properties. It's best taken in supplement form as it has a strong, bitter flavour. Luckily there are many different options available including tinctures, capsules, throat sprays, ointments, and lozenges. Propolis contains 500 bioactive molecules that have antibacterial, anti-fungal, anti-viral, anti-inflammatory, anticancer and antioxidant properties.

Health Benefits of Bee Propolis

Propolis is full of macro and micronutrients including amino acids, antioxidants, B vitamins, vitamin C, vitamin E, beta carotene, zinc along with other trace minerals. It has everything needed to support the immune system and can stimulate and increase the number of immune cells that are needed to defend the body, whilst at the same time its anti bacterial, anti viral, anti inflammatory properties are available to help fight off illnesses. Propolis is able to help treat a wide array of illnesses from sore throats to drug resistance superbugs like MRSA.

Propolis is packed full of antioxidants called flavonoids and polyphenols. Antioxidants play an important role in reducing the number of free radicals in the body and the flavonoids in propolis can reduce the production of enzymes that cause inflammation. Free radicals damage the cells in the body and can lead to oxidative stress, which can then lead to chronic illnesses. We are all exposed to free radicals daily, so taking a supplement like propolis to reduce the damage caused by them is key to keeping healthy.

Propolis and Skin Health

When it comes to skin health propolis has many benefits. Its antibacterial, antiseptic and antioxidant properties have made it a popular therapeutic treatment for wounds and burns, helping improve skin cell proliferation and burned tissue repair. Propolis has even been shown in studies to be more beneficial in the treatment of acne than synthetic drugs when combined with tree oil and aloe vera. Propolis is also just as effective (if not more) at treating cold sores than the regular treatment available.

Choose Propolis to help you lead a happy, healthy life!

With all these benefits it’s easy to see how propolis can help you live a happy healthy life.
